International Association of Trichologists
Founded in California in 1974, the International Association of Trichologists (IAT) is a non-profit corporation developed to promote the study, research and legitimate practice in all aspects of the treatment and care of hair and scalp. Through its educational course, which consists of modules, lectures and photographs, which are continually updated with the latest research, the association supplies students with the necessary training to becoming a certified trichologist. Students are taught to understand the problems associated with the hair and the scalp and to treat them accordingly. The course, developed under the guidance of trichologist David Salinger, was designed as a home-study course, after which students must complete one hundred hours of clinical training under the supervision of an IAT-approved trichologist.
The program, which continues to shape qualified students worldwide, enables the interested professional to become a “Certified Trichologist” and a member of the International Association of Trichologists, which is the professional body responsible for handling the program itself.
